Surely this has appeared here before?  Not as a puzzle as seen here it hasn't!
So, for an easy Rookie point, what is it, from when, and what's its main unusual feature?

Yes, that's what I was looking for!
A rare Rookie ID!

Well done.

It's been puzzled before but only its chassis; perhaps it should be merged.  I'll think about it!

A perfect looking car if there wouldn't be the large rear overhang.

Yes; in context thought it would have looked fine at the time but these days proportions are rather different!

Yes, and that car was cobbled up without any constraints!  It was a ground-up new design, so the builder must have wanted it to look like that!  As we say in Yorkshire "There's nowt so queer as folk"!

It has the engine in the back.
Rear end flips up for easy acces.
Urethane front bumper.
Lift off roofpanel.
287cc alu engine, by the restoration of the car it was replaced by a '327'
30/70 front-to-rear weight distribution (with original engine)
Wheels of same width and design as on Jim Hall's Chapparal
