It wasn't built by him nor does it have a Honda NSX engine, but it was built in New Zealand!

Full name: FDL Mararn M6GT Replica (FDL - Fibreglass Developments Ltd.)
In 1970's they used original VW-kits (and engine from VW Beetle) for Mararn.

Yes, most were VW-based although understand they could also be based on some FWD Japanese car!
This particular car was built by Ian Byrd and Tim Monck-Mason I believe.
The Mararn was basically the same car as the Manta Montage but with the name changed for the cars made in New Zealand.
