I think it's probably quite a small car, designed to look bigger than it is. There's a high bonnet line and smallish wheels, so is there a Mini (or Metro) underneath?

1953 Puma Sports built by Frank Cantwell in New Zealand. Originally Austin engined, but this example in USA is Ford Cortina powered,

Yes!  that was easier than I thought..
The original cars were actually Austin A30 powered;  must have had really exciting performance...!
