What's this car called, what is it based on, from when does it date, what is said to have inspired it and who (from where) built it?  All this for 1 point!

That's the car, car.  Apparently it was started by the Blastolene Brothers and finished off by Los Angeles artist Baron Margo.

It is said to have been inspired by the Blastolene Special (but in what way I'm not sure; certainly the quality of the work doesn't appear to be in the same league), although I understand the Blastolene Brothers also actually had something to do with building it..
