1956 Panhard DB Dyna Sport. I can't read what it says on the competition roundel, but I'm looking into it.

I've found an image of the same car, but carrying different "race" numbers - in the background is a Rome police car, and I assumed it may be an entry in the Mille Miglia rerun. Am I near ?

Right car, right race but not in modern times and almost the right year.
Locked for you to tell me which Mille Miglia it is in!

I'm quite sure the picture shows a modern MM rerun, and not a fifties edition. In those years the numbers were written onto the body with white picture, and corresponded to the start hour. In the photo we clearly see plastic adesive numbers, so I don't understand why you say that it is not in modern time.
I remember this car in Italy some years ago; it carried an Italian plate AV-1___ , later I saw it with a German plate, hoping this may help Nicanary.

I agree with Targdiferro - if it had been an original MM the numbers for a car in that class would have been around 70-80 and not 268. Also the sticker on the puzzle photo has writing round it, rather like modern retrospectives. There are several images of this car on Google, but they have a different "racing number" and it is not easy to read the print on the roundel. All images show the car with German licence plates.

I've come to a dead stop on this one. Possibly your source has misrepresented the car by referring to a race it was once in, and failed to mention this photo was a modern one.

Yes, sorry guys, you're right of course.
In my haste to answer before I never checked my picture as I had it in my mind I'd scrubbed out the numbers before posting and had overlooked the fact that they were modern re-run numbers.  I'd also forgotten that I'd converted the picture from a good colour one to B&W, and of course since it was originally in colour it's highly improbable it would have been an original MM anyway..

So forget my question about which year the picture was taken - just give me the year of the car nicanary (not quite 1956).

I don't know who took those pics, but I was few meters ahead that day!
I took this pic in 2005, where the Mille Miglia started for the Roma-Brescia part...a big parking lot on the Aurelia Street.

I won't trust my captions too much...I took it from the Mille Miglia website, where it was labeled as that.
I fix them when I have to fix the whole folder...I'm not sure about the date, I'll have to check.
