You're right about the year, because the project began in 1966 and was abandoned in 1970.
I actually am quite sure this is the second prototype of project H (also named 120); la Regie Renault wanted to realize a 8v engines saloon to put at the top of the range of French production, as, after the end of Poissy's 8v and Facel-Vega quitting, there was no French engine bigger than 4 cylinders.
The project was in Gaston Juchet's hands, and designers as Beligoud, Dumolard, Mormand, were interested.
The first prototype had a different from grille (from Ghia prototype 114), and it was possible to open rear window; in the second the dashboard too was modified. Somewhere these prototypes are called Super 16.
From the third car derived the Fuego's project.
