This looks vaguely like an MG-based Buchanan, built in Sydney.  Getting any warmer?

A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Not a Buchanan and not MG-based.
I don't know if it was built in Sydney.
As a clue - it was built in the 1950s and based on a larger car than an MG.

The wheels look as if they could be 1930s Ford V8 so it it Ford-based?
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes it is Ford V8-based.
I don't have much information on this car but suspect it was constructed in the 1950s on a pre-WW II Ford V8 base.
All I need is the name - xx xxxxx Ford V8 Special

Another clue - the car's name is two letters, the second of which has a similar (but not quite) spelling to one of Australia's well-known recreation areas.

The final attempt to revive this forgotten puzzle........

It's been established that it's Australian, is powered by a Ford V8 and was built in the 1950s.
Name is 2 letters and 5 letters plus Special.

An additional clue - the first two letters mean 'on' in a certain language whilst the second word is (yet again!) a slightly misspelt name of a famous Australian beach.

AN Bondy?
Not An......
Apologies, (I'm becoming tired again), I meant the first two letters meant 'of' in a certain language.....

So, xx Bondx is the solution..... (x being the missing letters)

Hi the Car is the DeBonde Special, built in a town called Northam in Western Australia, by my Father Freddie DeBonde and a sheet metal worker friend called Ray Mc Corn, it was powered by a ford 289 V8

Hi boondie, your information is very welcome as I was beginning to despair in finding more information on your father's interesting car. If you do have more information, images and a year when your father built it that would be great.
Does the car still exist? Where was it raced? etc.......
Best regards,
woodinsight
