Solved - MJW #1100 - Aries 1000 c.1957 (P.T. Salkeld)
« on: January 27, 2013, 10:31:28 AM »
Another batch from me......
Rookies please be quick if you want to add to your points score as I'm going to move these up to the Experts in a few days.

First one is a bit of a mystery car to me - I only have a name, engine size and the name of the driver plus an approximate year.
Don't ask me what the base car is - I don't know......

One point if you can identify the name, nationality and approximate year.....

I don't know what the base car is.
It may have been built from scratch.....

No it's not 933cc nor 848cc - it's a round number between 933 and 1172

Yes!......but I have no idea which engine it is!

All I know is that's called an xxxxx 1000 c.19xx by x.x. xxxxxxx (you can count the number of x's)

Hmmm... Looks rather Arnott-ish but there aren't enough xxx's for that..
Believe they made a 1000cc Climax-engined car like this around 1955.  Any relation?

It could be a Climax engine as this car is pictured in 1957.
I doubt if there is an Arnott connection except that this car also starts with an 'Ar'

So, now we have Arxxx 1000 c.1957 driven/built? by x.x. xxxxxxx
LOCKED for you to have another guess (I just need the name of the car now for the point - I'll name the driver/constructor later)

Hmmm..  this is tough as I'm not sure this car appears anywhere on the 'net?

I've tried a few 5-letter words I can think of beginning with Ar... but haven't come up with any pictures so let's try the more likely ones.
I thought of Ariel but that was a motorbike back in the '50s or a modern car from today so it probably isn't that!
Let's try Aries?
