This car was built by Holt Binnie in 1953.

That's it - well found Wendax. Yet another point for you.

Holt Binnie's business was the recycling and restoration of Holden crankshafts.
He later raced a standard MG TF fitted with a special Holden engine and later acquired the Gladiator, a Holden-engined sports racer fitted with a Buchanan body.

I can guarantee it's not a Holden engine. I'd say your source is incorrect.

Interesting Craig - I've been trying to find the source I obtained the puzzle photo from without success.

Are you saying the engine is an MG (modified TD?)
If so I will alter the heading and allocate additional points where they are due.....

It looks like an MG engine to me or at least something BMC related, but I'm unsure, I would get a second opinion. I understand you're probably not familiar with Holden engines, but I can assure you, in this case it isn't a Holden engine. The Holden Grey motors (they were painted grey) went from 1948-63, and they used the same basic engine configuration for the 6 cylinders up to the mid 80's.

Thanks Craig, that looks convincing to me.

Anyone with a second opinion?

The puzzle car should be Holt Binnie's alloy bodied MG TD.
The MG-Holden Special was this: an MG TF with an Holden Grey six.
