Secondly I only have a name and year for this car. Identify those and the point will be yours.

Good try but the base car/engine is not British.
The car was registered in the UK and the date is was built was post WW II.

Time to rescue this one from the BH.......

I really don't have much information on this car except that it was constructed from two different marques and the year.

I'm not sure which of the two marques referred to the chassis and which to the engine.

To give you a start - one of these marques is French and the other could be British or French (despite me saying earlier that it wasn't British).
Also the car was registered/built in the UK.....

Talbot is one of the marques but I'm not sure whether it's the French or British versions.
Nothing to do with Hotchkiss though.
