A few days ago I tempted Allemano to create a new Cars and Places puzzle. I think we can't have enough of them, so I had to try on my own. Here is the result, a puzzle about cars and places of healthy recreation. You have to find the connection as usual. Points will be awarded after all connections are found. Hurry up, your thalassotherapy will start in a few minutes. ;)
The vehicles:
-
Some more:
-
First batch of the places:
-
Second batch:

The correct answers:
Kursaal 1: Bad Ems - E: Saab 99 EMS (Tom_I)
Kursaal 2: Arosa - Flyer C: Seat Arosa (Tom_I)
Kursaal 3: Zandvoort - Flyer J: Nieuwenhuis Special (Oswald)
Kursaal 4: Binz auf Rügen - Flyer H: Mercedes-Benz 170 DS by Binz (4popoid)
Kursaal 5: Semmering - N: Fuchs racecar (4popoid)
Kursaal 6: Friedrichshafen - K: ZF Champion (4popoid)
Kursaal 7: Spa - M: SPA C 9000 (4popoid)
Kursaal 8: Würdig "Dübener Ei" - G: Bad Düben (4popoid)
Kursaal 9: Devin - Flyer B: Devin-Panhard Type C (4popoid)
Kursaal 10: Dax - L: Dax 427 Cobra (Tom_I)
Kursaal 11: Solec-Zdroj - D: Solec Riva (4popoid)
Kursaal 12: Yalta - Flyer F: Yalta 965 (Tom_I)
Kursaal 13: Bedford Springs - A: Bedford Harimau (4popoid)
Kursaal 14: Isla di Vulcano - I: Icona Vulcano (4popoid)
-
Brilliant.
Flyer J - the Nieuwenhuis Special matches with Kursaal 3 - Zandvoort.
The car is seen here wearing number 13 during the 'Pinksterrace' in April 1968 at the Zandvoort track. It was involved in an accident right after the start.
-
Very good start, Oswald!
-
up to the pros
-
Flyer F is the "luxury" export model of the ZAZ 965 called the Yalta, and I think Kursaal 12 is Yalta on the Crimean peninsula in southern Ukraine, favourite resort of the Russian aristocracy and Soviet elite, at various times.
-
Very good!
-
Flyer C looks to be a heavily modified first-generation Seat Arosa.
Kursaal 2 is the Kursaal casino and cinema in Arosa in Switzerland - I'm not sure that it really qualifies as a place of "healthy recreation". ;)
I had a holiday there some years ago, and I don't remember this building at all, so it's probably quite new. It's an attractive mountain resort - I went in summer (I'm not a skier). I'd certainly recommend the train journey from Chur to Arosa. It takes an hour to travel about 25 km, but you gain 1000 metres in height in the process, and there are some dramatic pieces of railway engineering along the way, as well as great scenery.
-
Time to get in the game. I'll start with 9 & B
9 is the Orpheus Spa Hotel in Devin, Bulgaria.
B is the prototype Devin-Panhard Type C from about 1954.
The connection is Devin.
-
I don’t see a 24 hour rule, or limit to the number of attempts, so I’ll file another try. This time it’s 11 & D
11 is the Spa Solec-Zdroj in Poland.
D is a Solec Riva electric car.
The connection is Solec.
-
One last attempt for tonight, 13 & A.
13 is the Omni Bedford Springs Hotel in Bedford, PA.
A is a 1974 Bedford Harimau truck from Malaysia.
The connection is Bedford.
-
Tom_I's and all three answers from 4popoid are correct.
-
Wendax has started a new day, and I'm off to bed, but before I go here is another three pack (no I don't have them all figured out).
Next I’ll try, 4 & H.
4 is the Kurhaus Binz on the Baltic island of Rugen.
H is a Mercedes-Benz Typ 170DS (W136) by the Binz & Co. Bodyworks.
The connection is Binz.
-
How about, 14 & I
14 is Volcano Island off of the north coast of Sicily.
H is the 2013 Vulcano supercar concept by Icona.
The connection is Volcano.
-
Now I’ll try, 5 & N
5 is Spa Schneeberg, Semmering, Austria.
N is a Fox race car by Hans Fuchs AG at a Semmering hillclimb in 1922.
The connection is Semmering.
-
Well, what shall I say? All correct again. The Volcano island goes by Isla di Vulcano in Italian, so there even is a identity with the name of Icona's concept car. And Hans Fuchs' car was called Fuchs, not Fox, but that is probably owed to Google Translate. ;)
Have a nice sleep!
-
Flyer L is a Dax 427 Cobra replica made by DJ Sportscars of Harlow, UK, and Kursaal 10 is the Place de la Fontaine Chaude (or Square of the Hot Spring) in Dax in south-west France.
-
Right again! :)
-
Only two to file this morning. Next 6 & K
6 is the Kurhaus Friedrichshafen in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
K is the postwar IF Champion small car from Friedrichshafen.
The connection is Friedrichshafen.
-
Now on to 8 & G
8 is the Kurhaus in Bad Düben, Germany.
G is the Dübener egg camper from Bad Düben.
The connection is Bad Düben.
-

It is not IF, but ZF for Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen, but otherwise correct.
-
Now on to 8 & G
8 is the Kurhaus in Bad Düben, Germany.
G is the Dübener egg camper from Bad Düben.
The connection is Bad Düben.
Yes, the Würdig camping trailer is widely known as the Dübener Ei (egg from Düben).
Two more to go. Anybody else wanna join in?

Unfortunately
A few days ago I tempted Allemano to create a new Cars and Places puzzle.
Did I miss something?
Alas I was not here the past two days. Nice puzzle any way! :applause:
Maybe I join the party tomorrow, but most probably I haven't got the time... :(

Wow, there are a lot of Kursaals about. I found Kursaal 1, Bad Ems in Germany, without too much trouble, but struggled to find a match, until one of those "aha" moments when the penny finally dropped (or at least I hope it did).
So I'm hoping that Flyer E is a Saab 99 EMS, a sporting version which apparently stands for "Electronic Fuel Injection, Manual, Special".
So the link would be Ems/EMS.
-
Lastly, 7 & M
7 is the Pouhon Pierre Le Grand on the Rue Rogier in Spa, Belgium.
M is an Italian SPA C9000 bus from about 1927.
The connection is Spa/SPA.

Yes, that was a tricky one. ;) But I knew I could trust your sleuthing abilities.

Yes, that puts your recreational vacation to an end.

The results:
4popoid: 9 points
Tom_I: 4 points
Oswald: 1 point
I'll be back soon with another group puzzle!

I see! As said I missed something...
No time to set up new group puzzles I'm afraid. :(
