What's this, built by whom, what it is based on?
Identify this one-off car for 1 point! ;)

This car was built in 1961 in Sweden by Sven Andersson (nick name plåt-Harry) and named HPD Special.
Based on a shortened VW beetle platform from 1949. Built to look lika a Porsche with body parts from different cars. The roof and doors from a Saab, the hood is a modified Volvo PV roof, the rear wings also from a Volvo, the rear screen is a Peugeot 203 and so on.
Now owned by Norwegian Oystein Asphjell and fitted with a Porsche 912 engine and Porsche 356B brakes.

I have shot this cool little car in motion 4 years ago:

Apparently "HPD" simply stands for "Hop-Plockade-Delar", which roughly translated means "Gathered picked parts", in other words made from parts gleaned from various sources.  Swedish home-builts like this are registered for the road as "HPD" cars with HPD and a number.

So whilst this car is an HPD special it's not the HPD Special and possibly has another name, or maybe it's just the "Sven-Harry Andersson Special"...
