SOLVED: Djetset #626 - Alihari 2CV one-off jeep
« on: January 18, 2013, 02:26:35 PM »
I've not posted any new puzzles for a while, so here is the first of a fresh batch of mysteries.

One point awarded for the correct name of this vehicle.

Yup, it's very 2CV-related, but do you know what it is called?

It looks like a cross between a Méharii and a Mini-Moke so first i thought of Mini-Méhari  ;) but decided not.

Is it a Méhari Ranger from Uruguay?

It is British-built, and a one-off to the best of my knowledge.

I found a picture of this car with the text Alinari on it. Is that its name?

Almost right, but a slightly different spelling.  Look at the photo again for the correct name, and now locked to you until your next reply.

Four months have passed - I'm guessing this is unlocked. Is the name Alihari ?

I was guessing the name from a composite of Aluminium and Merhari. I've now found the original image and that is indeed the name on the side of the car. The photo was taken at a Classic Car meeting in Harrogate in 2012. It appears from the registration plate to be based on a 2CV or similar from 1986.

Alihari it is; a one-off 2CV seen at last year's ICCR Internation Citroen rally in Yorkshire, England.  Another point to Nicanary.
