I think it is Swiss, or at least in Switzerland.  Cannot get any further yet.

Yes it is Swiss.
Locked for Bill and Hiawatha for another answer each.

Bill Murray

This does not fit with Switzerland, but I think it is a Mavag with body by Star Garage.
Both Hungarian.

I think we have to go deeper to solve the puzzle..
The picture was taken in Gyor (Hungary) in front of the local transport premises and the bus was used on the Gyor-Sopron interurban line.
Unfortunately Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages to decipher, but I have the feling the bus could be a Raba.
Fabrizio, could you please check your source?

Bill Murray

You are quite correct on the photo locale etc.
Also quite correct on the difficulty with the Hungarian language.

I found this photo on a bookmark I have on Coachwork by Uhri/Uhrin and also another bookmark on Mavag busses.  However the site you are referring to seems to describe it as a Raba as you say.
I am not to clear on whether Raba/Mavag have any association which might help if there is any.

It may, in any case, be a Raba with body by Uhri/Uhrin.

I'm not sure whether Mavag and Ràba had any connection. The  Ràba factory was based in Gyor where the picture was taken, but that's all I know.

Bill Murray

Hi Luciano:

I did some further research on Mavag/Raba on Hungarian sites and there seems to be no connection.
Both chose different licensing partners and would appear to have been competitors.

I still only have the same photo and information you have so I think you are correct that it is a Raba but I have had no luck so far with the coachbuilder.  I still also do not understand the Swiss connection confirmed by Fabrizio which I think may be an error.

I think pnegyesi may be the person to ask.

Hi,
If I remember correctly links are not permitted in puzzles. You may want to check with a moderator to make sure.

I'm sorry I shouldn't have even answered because it still hasn't been unlocked.
I erased the link I posted, but I thought links from Autopuzzles were allowed?
Fortunately what I posted contained no new information.

I've checked and I think Luciano and Bill are right.  The bus is a Raba and have no connection with Switzerland...I got wrong because I found another picture (the one I post today) and I identified as a Saurer the puzzle-bus.   The coachbuilder is Star Garage from Gyor (H), as Bill yet suggested.  So I think it's fair to give a point both to Bill and to Luciano.   Is than a Saurer the other bus?

Hiawatha

Excellent news..  a truly international team effort!

Bill Murray

Lots of fun but a bit frustrating too.

Regarding the second bus, I had that photo a few days ago and did not save it nor did I save the site where I saw it.  I have now spent an hour and a half trying to find it again but no luck.

I believe it is a Mavag-Mercedes based on the appearance.  Mercedes was the primary partner with Mavag in the mid-late 1930's from what I can get from Hungarian sites.

In any case, I think the three of us solved the original puzzle photo correctly.

Please correct the date, this bus was done in 1936.

The second bus is not a Saurer, but a Rába Super.
