I believe this is a Marendaz Special from about 1927.

As you can see from the advertisements, Capt. Marendaz was good at making claims for his products that looked well, but may not have mattered much.
Although the last Marendaz Special was built in 1936 for the next 50 years any criticism of it, real or imagined, in a magazine such as Motor Sport would result in a strongly worded letter from Capt. Marendaz, often threatening legal action.
