D-type

From a Portuguese African colony - ie Angola or Mozambique ?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

Must admit I would never have guessed Angola.

The photo was taken at the 1965 Angola Grand Prix and the car is a Porsche Spyder 2L prototype driven by Antonio Peixinho.

Locked for you.
What's the name behind this special?

WayneB

From what I can gather its called a Protopipo (prototype?) Pierre de Sibenthal and it was built on a 356 Carrera chassis.

Also the word Recarrozado is mentioned (the write up is in Spanish or Portugese and the google translation is having a tough time with it).

Paul Jaray

Pierre de Sibenthal was the name I was looking for!
1 point for you!

I refer you to puzzle SAC#537 in August 2013. It's a Cegga-Porsche, probably a rebodied Porsche 904, and I'm guessing was commissioned by Pierre de Siebenthal (who was a wealthy amateur driver) from the Gachnang brothers.

The Angolan racing body at that time used to pay good starting money to encourage entries from Europe, and their Grand Prix was run to sports/GT regulations. The circuit was in Luanda.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

a Suisse car called "Drogo-RSK" driven by Pierre Siebenthal in mountainclimbs and at the 1965 Nürburgring 1000KM together with Cuenod, They did not finish. A Porsche Spyder with Drogo body. Sometimes the car is called Cegga-Porsche but that's not correct.
