Yes ,it's a Fiat !
Locked for you!

Guessing it was a Fiat seems to have been the easy part.
It is a 1100 racing in Italy?

Bit of a long shot - is this the 1940 Tobruk-Tripoli race ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

SACO

Not 1940 Tobruk-Tripoli race !

I've just realised that a previous post mentioned that the race was in Italy. I must open my eyes a bit more.

I'm pretty sure it's not the Mille Miglia. Is it the Targa Florio ?

That body style with streamlined wheel covers would have been late 30s onwards. I've checked the results of 1936, 37, 38 and 1940 (no race in '39) and nothing fits. Nor does 1947-49, and then the "numbers by starting time" system begins. Most of the events do not have a #44 (is this unlucky in Italy?). Sorry, I can't make it out.

So we're looking for one (or two?) Fiat 1100 sports-racing cars in the Mille Miglia - do you need the driver names ?

The photo comes from a movie about one year of Mille miglia, but the participations don't correspond with the movie

SACO

An other view of the movie :

4popoid

From 1938 Mille Miglia: #30 is a Fiat 508CS Balilla Sport (with a Fiat L4 1100 cc engine), and driven by Quintavalla & S. Bardiani.  It finished 33rd.

According to a certain reputable site, car #44 is a Fiat 1100 berlinetta. That car in the photo sure isn't a berlinetta. Was the film a documentary made during the running of the race, or a fictional account made using some of the runners and some other cars ? The car #44 was the problem for me when trying to solve the puzzle.

SACO

The name of the movie is " Mille Miglia Car Race Lner 1938 " ( British Pathé )

nicanary

Well, for what it's worth, car #44 was a Fiat 1100MM berlinetta driven by Gilera/Giovanni. I have watched the British Pathe film and it does not name the cars in your puzzle. I reckon 4popoid deserves the point for identifying the actual event and one of the cars - I can only assume that the "certain site" that provides reasonably accurate records of these races was wrong on this one, regarding the other car.

Well !
Mille Miglia 1938 ?
#44: Fiat 1100 Zagato ?
#30: Alfa 6C 1750 rebodied ?
