I am sure I saw it in a british kit car mag years ago, is it based on a Ginetta sports racer

It is indeed a British car as pictured in a kit car mag. After a hard-drive meltdown, I'm afraid all my details on this have disappeared, so I'll have to dig the mag out again to answer more questions...

Did anyone ever say Raffo for this baby?

Sadly all the details I'd saved on this have vanished, until I can relocate the mag it was scanned from. But I'm 99% sure it's not a Raffo.

This one has been driving me mad for almost three years now, as I knew I knew it, but just couldn't recall its name, and have now finally remembered  ;D!

It is the Dananta Dagger, built by Dave Alford, and based on the mechanicals of a Hillman Imp.  Hurrah!!

I will add another photo shortly.

I will have to take your word for it, my good sir, as all my original details on this car are long lost. Dananta Dagger does sound familiar, so a point to you...

I was looking on ebay right now to see if there are some good lots to buy but I can't decide between 'Component Car', 'Alternative Cars' or 'Kit Car' of the 80s...I haven't see any of them so far.

They are all highly recommended PJ.  Each of the magazine titles you list were produced by English kit car guru Peter Filby, with Alternative Cars being his original publication, which later moved into more prestigious specialist cars, leaving Kit Car to cover the more affordable self-build kit scene.  Component Car was the later version of Kit Car, as Kit Car got taken over by a rival publisher (late 1980s from memory), and sadly the quality of that title then dropped drastically.

If you can't buy them all, then go for Alternatives cars from 1979-82, then Kit Car from 1982-90.
