This is a tough one so I'm opening it up to all AutoPuzzlers. What I want to know is: what was the company and designer behind this car?
-
It's too obvious to ask but I'll do it, yet: any connection with a Mini?
-
Yes it is based on a Mini!
-
European?
-
Maybe Boro GT?
-
Maybe Boro GT?
No it's not a Boro GT, but yes, it is from a European country

British? German?
-
British? German?
Yes, it's British
-
Here's a rear view
-
An one-off?
-
No - two were made
-
Was it made by a manufacturer who also made other cars?
-
The company made just the two cars. But its designer was responsible for many others
-
Harris Mann?
-
Harris Mann?
Not him
-
Towns?
-
Towns?
Nor the late, great Mr Towns
-
Is it just me or does that rear come from a MGB GT?

Is it just me or does that rear come from a MGB GT?
Quite possibly. And I reckon those are BMC 1100 rear lights
-
Related to Stewart & Ardern?
-
There is a sort of connection, yes
-
Was the designer of this 'bitza' the infamous Neville Trickett? Oh, and BTW, Happy New Year and Happy 50th birthday to the Mini.

It was indeed Neville Trickett! That provides the Stewart & Ardern connection, because he designed the Minisprint that was once made by S&A.
OK, Djetset, that's one point for you. Now I want to know the name of the car! That will earn the lucky puzzler one point
-
It's the so-called "Codford conversion" built by one "Todd" Sweeney for David DaSouza. Designed by Neville Trickett of course.
Here's a few more pics.
-
Well done! This was a tough one

Yes it was. I had to ask Mr. Trickett himself :D
-
This is what Neville has to say about this car. Not much, but still a first-hand info :)
"Hi Pawel, I believe I know what you are referring to. Early in 1967, having left Rob Walker's (and with the MiniSprint project sold by Geoff Thomas to Stewart & Arden) I was approached by David DaSouza and asked to design a sectioned mini hatchback. The prototype was built in a garage at Codford near Warminster owned by one 'Todd' Sweeney. From my recollection it was known as a'Codford conversion' I think two were built but I never saw a finished car, or even heard of it again until your email! with kind regards, Neville."
-
Wow.
That's what I call research!
Respect! :hail:
-
Excellent work! NB Neville Trickett can now make you a brand new Minisprint (www.nolinks.html). Tempted...
-

It's the Codford Mini, another Neville Trickett design.
I'm quite sure we've seen it here before though.

You're right on both scores; it has featured here before, but I didn't find it because I had a slightly different name (Coxford) and since I'd bever heard of the Codford I never found it.
No matter, you get your point but I've merged them..
