This one is a "Waldschlepper" or Forest Tractor by Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz.

This was a post war development of the Steyr "Raupenschlepper Ost" or Tracked Tractor East which was a fully tracked vehicle as opposed to the half track design of the "Waldschlepper".  KHD co-produced the last version of the RSO in the final years of WWII so I suppose this is how they were able to continue after the war with the design.

This answer leads to a well deserved point!

I think only the engine is Deutz.
My source claims this to be the Magirus Waldschlepper.

It's all about the same, Burkhard.

KHD merged with Magirus and KHD sort of disappeared and then Magirus became part of Iveco.  I almost typed KHD/Magirus but got lazy.  Sorry.

No need to be sorry.

But it makes sense now.

I have it as Deutz Waldschlepper RS 1500, built from 1946 to 1947. As Bill said, it is the half-track version of the Raupenschlepper Ost (RSO), which was built by Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz during WW2 under a Steyr licence. KHD built 1460 units of the Waldschlepper. A surviving example can be seen at the Sinsheim museum.

KHD dropped the Magirus name in 1940 in favour of the Klöckner-Deutz for their trucks, but soon after WW2 first the Magirus logo returned, and in 1949 KHD decided to introduce the Magirus-Deutz name for their trucks.

Wel, I´ve scanned it from a 1948 magazine and they claimed it to be a Magirus.

Maybe the last ones have been marketed under this brand.

I´ll change the title and put in both names.

Further......

Gerd and I may be using the same reference source, I am not sure.

I just got a book out of my cellar which shows more or less the same photo and the description is......

Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz-Magirus Waldschlepper RS 1500.  Baujahre 1946-1947.

This book is one of a series of seven that I purchased in the 1970's covering 1932-1939 and a post war edition in 1948 that are, in my opinion, pretty solid sources of information as they were published by one of the German Automobile/Truck Associations and used only factory supplied information

Sadly, in some years they are not complete as they depended on the various manufacturers to provide information, and I suppose advertising, so some marques are missing in some years.
In any case, the puzzle is well and truly solved I think.

And.....I take the point :yuck:
Cheers
