The XR8 was a Ford Sierra model that was only manufactured and sold in South Africa. Rather than using the 4-cylinder turbocharged engine of English models, the XR8 used the 302ci/5 litre  V8 engine that powered the US Ford Mustang. 250 were built in 1984 to homologate the car for South African touring car racing.
