Engine Room Ennui #481 - 1969 Rebel Raider
« on: June 16, 2013, 05:33:06 AM »
For one point: Identify this engine, and the vehicle in which it sits.

Only a correct, complete and specific answer will earn a point; tag-on's to other guesses will not. So, be specific and complete!

No, but that is closer to correct than the previous guess.

Is it a 1973 AMC Javelin with a 360ci. V8?

One of only 876...1969 Big Bad Green AMC Javelins made. Rarer still, it is a ModPac optioned Javelin with the roof spoiler, simulated side exhaust,c-stripe,GlenGarry Parchment interior. 343 Typhoon cid engine, 280HP.

After looking closely at the rad support and the windshield plenum I think its a 1969 AMC Rebel with a 290 cu in V8

Possibly a "The Machine" edition, but the motor doesn't look correct (the air cleaner isn't for a cold air induction hood)

Just got the dope on this.
I wouldn't have if Wayne B. hadn't figured out it's a Rebel.

This is a 1 0f 300 1969 Rebel Raider, a special promotional model keyed to release in NY and NJ beginning with the NY Auto Show. Two door hardtop, 343ci. Typhoon V8 with 4 barrel carburetor, 3 speed automatic, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning. The package included vinyl roof and choice of three colors of paint, which were RENAMED "Big Bad" colors that had been introduced that year. Big Bad Green was "Electric Green". Big Bad Orange was "Tangerine". Big Bad Blue was "Blue You've Never Seen". They rhyme.

Apologies to Wayne. You may snipe the living daylights out of me the next time out. I'll deserve it.

No need to apologise mate, I have never heard of the Raider and I was into AMC's  for quite a while.
