Not Fiat or for the handicapped. Much earlier than 1970.

When saw this published it was hard to believe that this was a british vision of a small car. only the Bedfordish sliding door technique indicates the brit origins to my opinion. i forgot the details so my blunt guess is 1957 pre-mini study for a small car that ended up in the Mini as we know it...

Was this ERA's design from 1956/7 for BMC?

Apologies, it's been very hard for me to find the time to spend more than a minute or so here recently.

This car isn't a proposal for the Mini, though this is a pretty close guess, nor is it anything to do with the ERA/BMC cars.

I doubt the styling was by Issigonis but it was a proposal for an Issigonis design, which should make it very easy to solve....

I was thinking it was a proposal for what became the Morris Minor (Mosquito)with a rear engine flat four air cooled engine, from the early 1940's

It's not related to the Slug, the first Hillman Imp prototype, is it?
Not that Issigonis had anything to do with that AFAIK...

Yes, it's a Morris Minor proposal. I don't have any more information about it although it's clearly rear-engined. I would suspect it is from the mid-late 1950s but predating the Mini. It's not something I have ever seen mentioned in any Minor/Mini history, perhaps somebody out there knows more?
