Yes, but how on earth did you know that?
And what about the first part of the question?

Max Hyde MkII Special a brilliant piece of kit with the engine projecting ahead of the long bonnet like a vintage aeroplane.
The car sounds much like a vintage aeroplane.

Yes, but how on earth did you know that?
If you noticed, I never solved these puzzles.  Simply in my collection isn't present such cars which look as old.
The answer is very simple: I have a brother, and he have a large collection of strange, unusual cars, trucks, planes.
Today I looked his collection and unexpectedly found your car.
Surprisingly, but you already for the third time doubt me and my knowledges. ;)

You're counting?
I question it because this car is so obscure.  Certainly I'd never seen it before until I found it.  Some (your brother..) must have a truly enormous database of such cars, but even then just how do you trace which one it is without its name?  Tracing something by name is much much easier than just tracing something by appearance..  There are literally millions of these things out there so it astonishes me how someone can put their finger on which one it is so easily..  Traced by what?

Most people specialise in something, whether it's sports cars, carrozzeria cars, lorries or whatever, but to come up with so many identifications of such different categories is truly amazing.  Which isn't to say it can't happen of course, but by nature I'm a bit of a cynic, so I question until I'm satisfied.

Anyway - you still haven't given me the answer I'm looking for regarding Max Hyde's inspiration for this car, but it's locked for you to do so.

Yes you are right, I found this car only by name. And it occurred casually, I assure you.
I will tell a little about myself: I am registered at twenty various (French, British, German) automobile forums (search - dzima1985 in Google) and every day for 5-6 hours I look for new cars for my collection. Search for cars - this is my disease...  :D

Max Hyde's inspiration for this car - Mercedes Silver Arrow?

Mine too..

Max Hyde's inspiration for this car - Mercedes Silver Arrow?

Apparently so!
Can't quite see the similarity myself..

Another point for you.

The Admins have to make absolutely sure the rules are followed; Google's Search by Image could be fatal to AutoPuzzles if they aren't..  Hence the need to ask.

I absolutely agree with this . . . To me, and I sincerely hope to everyone else who participates here, the search is more than half of the fun. Many of us have extensive libraries and good memories, and we have spent many a pleasurable hour searching both. I will say, however, that it does get a bit tiresome when we are so continually painted as cheats and liars until "proven" otherwise . . . And how exactly does one do that? Those who would stoop to using Google Image Search are certainly never going to admit that they did so.

Simply state once, prominently, that using Google Image Search is not allowed - and I'm pretty sure we've got that covered and everyone knows it by now.  And for heaven's sake, leave it at that.

Otherwise it stops being fun. Just my opinion.

When I first joined Autopuzzles, I was stunned that members could find the answer to most of the photos, and so quickly. I must admit I was sure that some of them were "cheating", although to me it's just a bit of fun, so I didn't really care. The website has opened my eyes - I had no idea that there were people who kept such huge archives. What on earth do they do all day long apart from updating these and constantly looking for obscure  cars ? Do they have jobs or families?

I have only the Georgano tome and a few racing books. My answers come from my head, and a broad knowledge of motoring over the last 50 years. That's why I post a lot but only solve a few - I create openings for others to take advantage of! There's more to life, in my opinion. than "living" obscure cars. Each to their own.

I'm surprised there aren't far more cars in the Black Hole. Some of the puzzles are home-built cars from way back, and nobody can remember them apart from the person who built them. How they're solved is beyond me. For example, at the present there are a couple of puzzles involving 1172cc Formula cars from the 60s - now that's my era but I haven't got a clue . There were thousands of them built , all at home, and very few records. Even the 750MC don't have them on their site.

Now that I'm an expert I'm pretty much out of my depth. I refuse to cheat. I'll just keep hoping for luck to send me one I know before anyone else sees it. which isn't easy when you have a business to run daytime and a job at night. (By the way, the present bunch of Rookies are useless).
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

All right, I'll try to back off questioning..
Most of the fun for me, too, is searching for what I think will be hard-to-solve puzzles.
But it is a bit soul-destroying when you've found what you think is one after hours of searching, and then it gets solved in a flash without even a single question as if it were a simple VW Beetle, which is a pity as the question and answer bit is always what I find most enjoyable.  I begin to think I've wasted an awful lot of time and if perhaps I should be spending my time doing those things my wife is always telling me I'm neglecting for "that stupid internet site"....

But c'est la vie, and quite often those I think will be easy to solve in fact last longer than those I think are nearly impossible..

It's true about the Rookies but as I've said elswhere I don't really think we've got any at the moment and most of the 'Views' of Rookie puzzles are by the Experts and Pros.  But more will come; they always do.

I realize (at least a little) how much effort goes into finding and posting the puzzles here for the rest of us . . . And that certainly entitles the "board elders" to an increased amount of latitude in what they require to successfully solve the puzzles they post.  Even if that sometimes drives us crazy. On the topic of cheating, I've had my say. At the end of the day, I guess the most important thing is trust . . . Trust that the puzzle posters have, in fact, thoroughly researched the correct answer before they posted, won't ask for ever-increasing amounts of information outside of actually identifying the car, and on the other side trust that the respondents will not cheat in coming up with the correct answer. Anything that falls outside of this on either side diminishes the enjoyment factor that makes this site (in my opinion) one of the best assets on the web.

Now let's get back to what we all love . . . Autopuzzles!

I attentively read your messages. My relation to rare cars -  very serious, obviously to I is the only person in Belarus who knows very much about cars. Now I, the unemployed, and I have a lot of time for a forums/websites, though a month ago when I worked, I had to adapt work under an Autopuzzles! ;)
I remained later at work, my girlfriend swore at me because of an Autopuzzles.

However, I can't live without the cars (... and Autopuzzles), and it's cool!
