The ca. 1921 Dort from Flint/USA had a very similar whole in is chassis frame under the driver´s door:

It's a 1917 Gray-Dort Fleur-de-lys Cloverleaf Roadster.

Well, I´ve found out about the cnadian Gray-Dort just some minutes ago - too late, I suppose.

It´s almost the very same car.

I take my hat off for all of you, and I'm sorry for you Grob, should I've read you answer before Joao's one, I would locked it for you, because you were near the right solution.  Joao his the center of the target, right maker, model and year too.
