I guess it was an artist's interpretation of what emerged into the Chrysler VZ-6:

You´ve obviously found it - 1959 is also correct.

But it has a specific name.

This consists of the first part:

   - the (known) constructor´s name.

and the second part:

   - the model name

Still there´s not enough facts to lock it for you... :-\

No, but I must help here, because you´ve almost made it.

I´ll lock it for you, because you´ve found the connection showing those two pics in your posts.

There´s another (quite well) known vehicle that´s been constructed with the same design.

When you´ll find this, I think you´ll find the first name in a minute...

The three companies mentioned in my snippet all took part in the army's Flying Jeep competition. They were Chrysler with its VZ-6 (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=1322.0) shown above, Curtiss-Wright with their VZ-7 of a different design and the Piasecki VZ-8 Airgeep following the same concept as Chrysler. The well known flying car you refer to is probably the Curtiss-Wright Air Car (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=3713.0)

That would make it an Piasecki Airgeep or Air Jeep.

It makes it a Piasecki XXX...

It is not the Airgeep, but a proposal for the "normal" consumer, not for the military.
