I'm embarrassed I haven't got this one - it's like a cross between a TVR Jomar and the Sebring Sprite roadster. Is it a one-off or low volume production ?

I've only just noticed it's got indicators fitted. So that makes it road/race, and far more likely to have been commissioned by an amateur enthusiast. Is it one of the numerous Buckler frames ?

Hermanoto, is it just a guess or did you find the answer?
In that case I'll award the point and move to Solved section.

This car is a bit of a mystery - the Turner register reckons it's chassis 60/366, which makes it a MkI  from 1959/60, which were indeed made available with Climax engines. They also claim that its registration was GWE777D, which is a licence from 1966 - in the UK you can't have a registration plate issued after the build date.

The car was also for sale in the US in 1987 for $19500 - the seller claimed that the car had spent time in Singapore, where it received the alloy body. So possibly it's a '59/60 car exported to Singapore and then re-registered when it returned to the UK, although these days the routine is to issue an age-related plate. Maybe that wasn't the case in '66.

Interestingly I accidently found the exact same photograph of this car in an old magazine I was leafing through last night, and can add some important additional information, as a 1960s Turner-Climax doesn't quite give the full answer.

This is indeed a Turner (a Mk 2 Sports), fitted with a Climax engine, but importantly later re-bodied by Lenham in Kent; hence the unusual coachwork, as per the image. Perhaps Barrett can expand on the details of this car?  Is this worth an extra point?  ;)

Thanks PJ; it's good to be back again after a gap of a few months.

Thank you too for the extra point, although I was only (half) joking!

Whilst I've been out of action, I have found some great new puzzles to add, so watch this space...

I doubt it as Barrett seems to have abondoned us; great pity as I loved his puzzles.

I have attempted to find the photo of the car as sold in the US, but the image appears to have been deleted. There do seem to be discrepancies in the presumed history of the car. I have found the following photo, courtesy of the Turner Register, and I reckon this car was pictured whilst still in the States. I still can't work out why the Turner experts say it's a Mk1, when the magazine claims it to be a MkII - and why did the vendor in the States say it was rebodied in Singapore?  Anyone out there know former employees at Lenham?

I used to know Julian Booty a bit as we are both VSCC Members and we both used Veteran cycles. Not sure I can ask him though, but I might.
