For a point: What was it originally and who's responsible for the conversion of the rear?

No Borgward, Jensen, Peerless or Alfa Romeo connection.
And I don't think these are Giulietta rear lights.

The lights of rear plate are for sure those of Fiat 1100/103 D-H-(1957-1965), so I think Italy is a good gamble.

It's indeed Italian, it is even based on a Fiat 1100 (although I do not know which generation and version).
But there is still information (that I know) about the original car missing.
Also the person responsible for the modification of the rear is still missing.
According to the information I have, the conversion must have been made in the second half of 1956 or the first half of 1957.

I have no idea if the steering wheel is from Nardi.
This car has nothing to do with Nardi, Boano or Giannini.

I think that the original car was not a one-off (I think a small series was made, but most probably, none of them was identical.)
The conversion of the rear is a one-off job.

Yes.  The 'most probably, none of them was identical' part of my response gave that away  :)

No, but later on the guy worked (and still works) at least for 2 different coachbuilders.
But as far as my knowledge reaches, these carrozzieri were more 'carbody repair shops' than carrozzeria in its meaning we mostly use here at Autopuzzles

Do you know if it's based on 1100E or 1100/103 TV?
