One question. I have observed that when puzzles are merged, they usually remain in the board of the year of the second time they were posted. Wouldn't it make more sense to leave them in the year of the first posting? Since that was their first appearance in Autopuzzles.

When puzzles are merged the merger is given the choice of which of the two boards they go to.
I always choose the latest, because often the new puzzle is a current one whilst the old puzzle might be some years ago; if it's posted in the original place many people (including the one who has just solved it) might wonder what on earth has happened to it and think it's vanished!  If someone has just solved it I think it's better to put it on to the Solved board then anyone who has been following it will see it straight away.
Also the new puzzle often contains new information so I see it as a sort of update of the original puzzle so the latest board is the correct place for it.
