I have found this photo on the net twice and both times it is said to be a 1946, I think, Ford.
However, a frontal view on one of the sites shows what is a pure 1941/1942 Willys front end.

Neither site gave any real further details.

I'm going to give you the point for that. I have found various pictures of the car at British shows, this one was the Hot Rod and Custom Show at Beaulieu in 2011, and it is always captioned as a 1946 Ford Woody Pro Street (I know little about the Custom scene, and I assume that this is a class of drag racing).

I agree with you about the front end being Willys, and I guess that like many custom cars, this one has been built from an assortment of parts, with the base chassis/motor being '46 Ford.  I really like the unusual woodwork design, and left the registration details on the photo to see if the Rookies would take the bait.

Front end.......

Thanks, I got my information from probably the same site and the same show in the UK.

Yes, ProStreet was a drag racing class and IIRC the class was probably divided up by calculations of weight and cubic inch capacity of the power plant. It has been 50 years since I was involved in drag racing but I remember I ran a 1959 Buick in "D Gas" as it was highly modified and that was how I got classified.

In the event, I would suggest that this particular car may have been a "Poser" intended for boulevard cruising and car shows rather than as an actual competition vehicle.  There were and are lots of those around.

It looks like it might be a earlier Willys wagon box ('33 or '34) fitted to  later Willys front and fenders. Maybe the engine is a Ford mill.
