1934 Chevrolet 6 with Cabrio-Pickup body by Blaser

For one point, I need the base car, the coachbuilder, and the reason for the bodywork.

This was much easier than I expected.

A 1934 Chevrolet with coach work by Blaser of Switzerland.

It was built as a Cabriolet Pickup for a butcher who wanted a car that could carry 5 passengers and also be used in his business.
I imagine he carried carcasses on the cargo bed when necessary.

Good grab Bill, you type faster than I do!

This one really brings back some personal memories.  When I was a small boy, my father made a similar arrangement for use in our family's 1931 Chevrolet coupe to haul material for our small poultry farm.   The knowledge that this vehicle was Swiss produced makes it all the more interesting to me, as my family is of Swiss heritage.

You beat 4popoid by 13 minutes. I thought it would take longer than that, but I suppose if you know the base car straight-away you can start looking for images. I trust the butcher cleaned the spillage from the passenger area before he carried guests.

So this seems to be a more elegant version of a Fleischerwagen body:

I would have to say that this was an unusual path to solution.

I have spent as much as 6-8 hours trying to ID vehicles on this Forum since last September and often start with the normal Google search if I do not feel I can find it in my reference library or on one of the sites I have bookmarked.

In both of nicanary's puzzles that I got today, I got a hit on the first search on Google.

Chevrolet pickup 1934 gave me the latest answer in about 45 seconds.
Woodie ProStreet gave me the first one in about the same amount of time.

In both cases, it helped to be a 73 year old Yank as I knew the base car in the case of the Chevy and I knew the type of racer base for the second car as well.

Interestingly enough, Minerva M-4 1934 as a search term also brought up the 1934 Chevrolet butcher's truck.

I have never before had this happen that I got it on the first search and to do it twice in a row is almost bizarre.  BTW, I did the searches as soon as nicanary first posted the puzzle photos..

Sometimes you just get lucky with a little bit of base information.

I expected an American member to identify the base car quickly enough. I didn't realise the image would crop up under so many "variables" - I actually found the car when looking for Graber bodied cars. It's amazing how many puzzles I solve when I'm looking for something completely different.

Indeed............

I would say at least 1/4 of the puzzles I have answered were triggered by something I saw on another search that I saved just because I thought the site or the vehicle could be usable in the future or the site had a photo of a current puzzle car.

On the other hand, the last three days I have been researching the Minerva M-4 puzzle.  I have now visited 48 sites that have something to do with either Minerva or what I thought was a reasonable guess that the coach builder would be either Belgian or Dutch.  Zip...Zero...Nada.  Not even close.

It certainly does keep one busy, thank goodness I am finally retired and have a little extra time.  Even though, I am not really very good at this.

Here are the other two configurations on this car.
I forgot to remove the source but only a few viewed it so maybe it will be OK.
