PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

In this puzzle each AutoPuzzles member is allowed only one ID attempt per day.

Once you post an ID attempt, you must wait 24 hours from the time stamp on that post until you make your next ID attempt. Multiple guesses within a 24 hour span will result in the second and any subsequent guesses being deleted.

This is to allow members in different time zones to have a fair crack at the puzzle, and ensure that anyone with "specialist knowledge" does not hijack the whole puzzle. :)

So on to the puzzle. I've never been a big fan of two-wheeled vehicles, but I have a soft spot for scooters. At the age of 16, the first motorised vehicle I ever bought was a semi-derelict Lambretta Li 2, which I restored to working condition.

So here are 18 scooters for you to identify. Make and model will earn you a point, though you make also like to give an approximate year of manufacture. Any further information is always appreciated.

Points will be awarded at the end when the puzzle is solved.

Have fun, and remember - only one ID attempt per day.

The first correct answer! Well done.

You are very close. It does look like a DKW Hobby, but it is a later development, made in a different country under a different name.

#9 is locked for you to find the name. You do not have to wait the 24 hours - you can reply straight away. :)

Could it be a French Manurhin?

Tom_I

#10
Yes, that's it.

The DKW had a continuously variable belt drive transmission with a manually operated clutch. The Manurhin development added an automated clutch, making it the first scooter (I think) with a fully automated transmission, very much the norm these days.

To be honest, I am more than a little hazy about the model designations of Puch scooters. There's the SR, and SRA (which I think adds an electric starter), and engines of 125 or 150 cc. And are they all called Alpines, or is that a particular model?

Anyway, you are right, and if anyone has definitive knowledge about the various models, I would be interested to know...

I honestly don't know, I knew it was a Puch, and just guessed it was a 125SR.
