I have found an advert for this car from 1955. The price is astonishing - you could have bought a house for that money!
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

There's an advert for a Lagonda M45 Sedanca de Ville for £399950 at present and you can still get a house round here for that money - and possible a better house than £1250 would have bought in 1955!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

A brand-new Austin Healey 100 is priced at £1064 in the same issue. A 1938 Lagonda V12 dhc is £465. It's all fascinating reading.
