What's this car, what powers it and when was it built - for 1 point?

Google Search by Image continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Search by Image as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

It has a Ford V8 but it's not an Allard and not quite from 1939.

Yes, it's Leslie Ballamy's Ford V8 Special, although I have it as a bit earlier than 1951; maybe it's just the base that's earlier?

As I understand it, the LMB V8 Special was originally constructed 1936/37 using a 1932 Ford as the base car. It was known then as the Symmons Special (Reg. No. GMD 1). By the late 1930s it was known as the LMB Ford V8 Special.  It was completely rebuilt in 1951 (Reg. No. KMB 300).
It wasn't until the 1970s that the car was rediscovered in a much altered state and identified positively by Leslie Ballamy as being the original Symmons Special.
