Solved: Wendax 601 - Carniel Jeudi
« on: June 06, 2012, 01:51:22 AM »
I like those T-Bird-like rear lights.

For one point, please respond and identify this car, when it was built and which engine it had.

Is that a 'real' car? Looks like something for children ...

So the RHD has nothing to see with the origins ... French then maybe?

A 'known' manufacturer who made a childrens car? Or an 'unknown' manufacturer who just made this one model?

I think it is one of the well-known French children's cars, but its manufacturer didn't build full-size automobiles. It is certainly not a one-off.

Yes, it is the Jeudi. Locked for you to find its manufacturer, when it was built and the engine supplier.

JUst to correct your typo: the engines came from VAP and Lavalette, and they were single-cylinder two-stroke engines, of course.

Production began in late 1957 and ended probably in 1959.

The top picture appears to show an old French license plate, is this scale car French?

'Jeudi' (Thursday, a day off school for children) by Carniel brothers from Saint Etienne. 49 cm3 engine (VAP or Lavalette 2 stroke), two pedals (forward and reverse), another source cites there was only one pedal to accelerate, and when you exceeded 15 km / hour, it would brake. Rack and pinion steering, 2.19m long fiberglass bodyshell on tubular chassis.
