The base car is an Opel Corsa (obviously), but the conversion is not by Emelba.

My first thought was the Emelba too, but with the Emelba the roof above the front seats is also cut away and it has a different roof construction.

I don't know this conversion, but it looks like it was done in a shed somewhere (it should have stayed there too) ...

It was not a private one-off (I wouldn't have posted it then as it lacks individuality), but it was meant to sell and was produced in a small series.

Corsa Tropica by Gilbert David (Opel garage in Manosque)

This was actually quite a big seller in France for an aftermarket conversion.

Congratulations, that's what it is. As far as I know, 25 Tropica were built.

Another point for you.

Way more than that! I have seen one again during Christmas time in Nice!

Apparently in 1990 only he produced 400 of them... which is more realistic as it was quite frequent to see one in summer.

He then did an attempt on corsa B, but that's never picked up. Maybe the 25 number refers to this transformation.

I looked up the (internet) source again. At the beginning of the article they say 25, at the end 400.  :D
The latter sounds more realistic, then.
