Another sleek racer.

For one point, please respond and identify this car, the date of build and its base.

Peugeot 402 escalle ?

Wendax

Yes, it is. Tell me the year it was built and what car it was based on, and the point is yours. Locked for you.

SACO

12 H de Paris 1950  Montlhery

Wendax

It was raced in 1950 at Montlhery, but that wasn't its first race. The base car still not mentioned. Still locked for 24h or your next reply.

SACO

24 H Spa 1949 or GP Paris 1949
base Peugeot Liège-Rome-Liège 1938

Wendax

Absolutely right. One more point for you.

Escalle - right, but this car was based on another model of Peugeot.
Locked for you until next reply.

Well, I suppose you're talking about the 402.

But can it be online sources are talking about the same car, one time it's 302 based, another time it's the 402 based?
I found a picture online which shows the type (302) and chassis nr (761261), and on the same website I saw the same picture as in this puzzle.

Funny thing is, I saw this car in the flesh a couple of years ago in Chimay, even took some pictures  :)

Sorry, but is a re-post - http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=17082.0

Vehicle offered for sale at PBA (Pierre Bergé & Associés) auction (and the year of construction - 1946 ???) It was called - Peugeot 402 Escalle. Chassis: No. 761261., driven by François- Joseph Escalle. But your photo with type 302 ???
Too many contradictions for the car. Can anybody help me with this?

Making order in my folders, now I'm at letter 'E':

According to the info I have, Mr Escalle, drove a Peugeot 302 in the late 30s.
When he decided to built his special he put a 402 engine on the 302 chassis.
