True, but it's a question of semantics (the meaning of words).  To ask "which race is this ?" is misleading if the answer is actually a hillclimb and not a race.

I agree, but I think you can't take this semantic knowledge for granted at an international forum like ours. In German, for example, a hillclimb is a Bergrennen, literally translated a mountain race.

Exactly, I agree with Wendax, what's in a name ? We shouldn't be too picky about these kind of things. Besides, whether a race or a hill climb, there can only be one winner !

I accept the confusion for those who don't have English for their mother tongue, but I maintain it is downright misleading to ask for "The xxx Race" when the required answer is "The xxx Hillclimb".

Also in Italian a hillclimb can be called "gara in salita" and "gara" means "race"... so it's a problem of language...  :-\
