That looks like the puzzle truck. An MV 55 one-off, built as a joint project with Lada in the 1970's. If Google Translate is correct, it became the Lada Niva, once rebodied.

I think the point is Bill's.

There are some details about the Ford engine (4v 1699c 75c SAE) and more.
In the article is written "M.V., after the 'Kraka' shown last year, introduced the '55', Ford powered 4wd, ..."
Same picture and same info on TAM (Tutte le Auto del Mondo) edition 1966.
The Beaulieu too as few words about.
If is not locked, are the XXXX (assuming it's not Ford

) for a 4-letter word (not number)?

(BTW. I doubt it's from 1955...

Paul, probably the magazine Ruoteclassiche has misleaded me: the author says that this vehicle was built in 1955. You confirm, as other members, this error and make the proof with the 4R magazine (I don't have that number).

Was it TIPO?
The caption says:
"Il 'Tipo 55', sigla che richiama l'anno del lancio, vanta la trazione integrale, un motore Ford a benzina quattro cilindri a V di 1.7 litri'

and in the article:
"Passa ancora un anno e, ..., viene presentato un nuovo autocarro leggero: il "Tipo 55" . Anch'esso con 4 ruote motrici..."

Hi Guys:

Still trying to fill in some blanks here.

The last post seems to indicate that the designation "Tipo 55" indicates the year of the launch of the vehicle which is presumed by most all here to mean 1955.

All of the source materiel mentioned so far, including my now removed link, say that the vehicle was powered by the Ford 1.7 liter V-4. That engine was not introduced until 1962 and I would bet it was not released for use by other manufacturers for perhaps a few years after that.

I think this may give further indication that perhaps the original, earliest, article
may have contained an error of fact and that error was repeated in later articles about the vehicle. I seem to have deleted the link I posted, but as stated in my earlier comments, I think that article said the vehicle was from the early 1970 period which would also be consistent with the appearance of the vehicle which does not look like a 1955 era vehicle.

Just some thoughts.

Both Quattroruote and TAM reports 1965.

1965 would work also, looking at some more photos of off road vehicles of that era.
