Hi guys, what is that?

Allan L

Based on a Model A Ford, but I think it is probably someone's one-off special
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

JR

The details seem very close to the VW based Antique & Classic Automotive 1931 Alfa Romeo. The number plate seems to back this up.

Last one from me for a few days.

What does this purport to be a replica of? (more of a very loose interpretation)
Who built it, what is it supposed to represent and when was it built?
One point will be awarded for the correct answer.

PM sent.  ;)
Yes I thought so too - not quite five years ago and the devil to find. ;D

woodinsight

Well I searched for this naturally before posting it but came up empty handed.
I'll leave it in place for the moment and await developments...... ;)

Paul Jaray

I believe I had the wrong name...

woodinsight

I don't know yet whether I'll promote this to the Experts in time, so Rookies - now's you're chance to earn a point before it may be merged.

woodinsight

Let's put in the Experts section as the Rookies didn't solve it.
It'll be merged as soon as it's solved.....

D-type

Salmson evocation (is that the right word?)

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

I'd say it's built on a VW Beetle floorpan and is loosely an Alfa Romeo 1750 replica.

That's correct so far.
I'll LOCK it for you to see if you can find the remaining information - builder and year.

richard cuyler

Sorry, no amount of research has helped me find anything more about the car. Please unlock!

In theory, this car is a replica of a 1931 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza.

Manufactured in Florida by Kadison-Kelson in Florida during the 1970s and 1980s.

Based on a VW Beetle, of course.  I would hate to see the steering mechanism, running around 6 feet from the steering wheel to the top of the front axle.

Correct on all counts except I have a different builder name.
My builder was based in New York (not the city).
The year is actually 1970 but as you stated 1970s/1980s I won't argue on that.
LOCKED for you to discover the name of the builder (they also made numerous other VW-based kits)

Based in Buffalo (still hunting)

Yes - I guess you've got it now?

sixtee5cuda

Not quite yet.  Is it Eagle Coach Work?

sixtee5cuda

The other kit car maker I found in Buffalo is Antique & Collectible Autos Inc.

woodinsight

Nothing to do with Eagle Coach Works.
This car was built in 1970 and Antique & Collectible Autos Inc. were only in business from c.1990 so it's not them.
However you are very close as the name of the company is very similar - can you find it now?
Still locked for you.

(I wish these people were more creative with their company names)

How about "Antique and Classics Inc."?

I found a reference to AAC, and it led me to ACA, which I thought might be the only such manufacturer in Buffalo.

That's close enough for me - it's actually Antique & Classic Automotive Inc., Buffalo NY (also known as British Motor Cars Inc.!)
I agree that it's a problem with many of these company names - take manufacturers starting with the word 'Classic' - I have over 30 listed on my database, the majority being American.
Anyway, a well earned point for you.

Can an admin merge this one now? Thanks in advance.
