From the sign-writing, I'd say that was a Midland Counties Dairy electric milk float. I haven't seen one exactly like it before, so I'd guess it's one they built themselves, probably before WW2, from the look of the photograph.

Or was it made by Albion?

Well, at least we agree on that (see reply #11).  ;)

Is a milk float anything like a root beer float?  (That's a ice cream/soft drink combination popular in the USA for those who aren't familiar and I'm too tired to think straight.)

A milk float is, I think, a purely UK term for the vehicle the milkman drives.

The ice cream/fizzy drink combination is called a float here too, not sure a milk based one would have the same effect.

Thank you.  I've learned 2 things from this.  I guess it's a good day, after all.  :)  Ohh...and I got the electric fan in my Camaro working again.    ::)

And here's the puzzle picture, which I just found.

The caption calls it "Midland electric vehicle". The Midland Counties Dairy Ltd was a big company, and had its own engineering department. They used vehicles from other manufacturers, but it seems that they did make some themselves. There is at least one electric milk float from the 1950s which still exists, registered as a "Midland".
