Right town, just a bit off on the year.

Yes on both accounts.  I AM older and I AM psychotic.  Or something.  But I wasn't around when that photo was made.  The line of the mountains and the Cottonwood trees are kinda hard to overlook.  So now ya know what part of the high desert I live in. 

Since I wasn't there, the year is kinda hard to pinpoint, but I guess it must have been closer to 1905, based on the shapes of the radiator grills on the cars.

It looks like a warm place. Speaking of that, ironically enough, just two days previous to this picture being taken, Robert Peary's expedition sailed from NYC, headed for the North Pole.

This is a bit ambiguous.  Peary made 2 departures for the North Pole in that time frame.  The first was in 1905 and the 2nd was in 1908.  Although both expeditions (as far as I've been able to determine) sailed from New York in a ship named the "SS Roosevelt" headed for that frosty ol' north, only the second one resulted in a "successful" voyage; one that's been disputed since his claim of reaching the pole was made.

Since I already offered 1905 as an answer, I guess that leaves 1908 as the "last date standing."  As for a date, I suppose there could be 2 possible calendar dates likely for the "cruise-in": July 4th and July 24, Utah's statehood day, also known as "Pioneer Day."  I'd lean toward the latter.

I got thinking about the possible location for the photo.  Three places come to mind: the mouth of Weber Canyon near Ogden, Ut; what's now called Lakepoint, in which case the mountains in the background would be the Oquirrhs, not the Wasatch (Lakepoint is I-80 Exit 99 and about 20 miles west of SLC) and possibly an area that was then and is now known as Wheeler Farm.  It's right in the middle (more or less) of the Salt Lake Valley and the view of the Wasatch mountains from there would be the same as that in the puzzle photo.

Yes, it's hot here in the summer.  It's also cold in the winter.  Temps range from -10F in the winter to 100+ in the summer.  Right now our highs are in the mid-to-upper 90s and will be hotter on the salt flats in 2 weeks,

Lagoon is an amusement park off the Interstate, kind of close to Syracuse and layton Utah.
I almost think that it was around back then and was a park or something?

RTR, lived in Tooele Ut for over 25 years, you would pass me up heading down the Interstate from SLC to the Salt Flats.

Bet that we share some friends from SLC, Park city, magna, prove, grantsville and other towns?
Been out of Utah since 1999.

My sister is visiting from Arizona.  I picked her up from where she was staying and drive by Lagoon on the way back.  I couldn't grab my camera fast enough or I would have shot a photo to illustrate the line of the mountain.  Maybe when I take her back....you'd be surprised at the difference.  Or maybe not.  Now the folks in the photo...they'd REALLY be surprised to see the freeway interchange going right by where they were parked.

@John.  It's very possible that we know many of the same people, especially if you did car shows, cruise nites, circle track or drag racing in the area.  Does the name Terry Nish ring a bell?

I did a little drag racing at Bonneville, Boss 302 car prepped for 7500 rpm launches.

Terry Nish, I am not sure, but does sound somewhat familiar.
What about Jack Plumb in SLC & Park City, Ron Newman, Bob Johnson or Larry Holmes in Tooele, Donny Redmond, Dennis McBride in G ville, Kirkhams from prove area, George Ostroloh>>> ahhh>> sooo many old friends in Utah.
I had my indoor dealership in Tooele from 1988-1999. Motor car Investments. John Yasenko.
Hosted a few shows in Tooele, drew 4000 curious onlookers at one.
Sold many investment grade autos around the world from the little town.

Licensed in Illinois now, dlr # 1750.

Still go under my trademarked business name., 40 years strong playing with investment automobiles. Hell, I am getting old !!!
