Solved - NEH 1539: Northern Kit Cars Hornet

What's this car for 1 point?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Close but not quite.
It's a Hornet but not DNK.
Locked for you to delve into it a bit more and see if you can come up with the right maker...

You're right, but I had to look it up and found this:

The white one was the original demonstrator, which I think was intended to be a one-off, but was so well received that a company was formed to build them. KNW was the abbreviation, was around about 1986. Based on a Cortina (hence the horrible instruments and Pinto power. The KNW Hornet project was passed on to another company, and was offered for sale, but I don't know how many (if any) cars were built by either concern.

A similar theme was tried by the later Regis Mohawk, which also bombed...

And this:

Originally appeared as a one off called the KNW2 in 1985, designed and built by Doug Pinchin of Newcastle. As a one of it was excellent, displaying design flair and styling abilty, but the quality of the moulding was not up to production standards"

Production cars were manufactured by De Novo cars (aka DNK) of Halesowen in the West Midlands. The white demonstrator (with the Weller 8-spokes) had a red dralon interior, so leopard-print is sticking with the theme!

The original car apparently had a computer in the centre console to control the vehicle systems.

So here it is called the KNW2 ...

Lots of info but amazingly enough though that's still not the answer I'm looking for!
This particular car is not a KNW2, de Novo or DNK!
A bit more digging still to do but I'll keep it locked for you to do that..

It was on Ebay in 2011 and was named there as a Northern Kit Cars Hornet. It has - apparently - a 2.0L Ford Pinto engine ...

I'm probably not allowed to put the link on here to Ebay?

Yes - that's the answer I was looking for!
Like many kit cars a number of different people seem to have had a go at making it so it can be identified by various different names.
However, the photo I used goes by the name you've now given me.
No posting links so you can't show the link to ebay!
