Does that body date to 1937, or is it a postwar construction on the 1937 chassis?

I would probably guess the latter, although not necessarily.

It's a 1950s Special:

The Austin Seven chassis was retained, stiffened and braced. The 750cc two bearing engine is fitted with a high compression cylinder head, double valve springs and re profiled cam followers.
Speedex independent front suspension, hydraulic brakes from an early Morris Minor and smaller 15 inch wheels
