Title: Solved - NEH 2056: Corvette-inspired home-built in Washington state - late 1950s

What can you tell me about this car?  I don't know a great deal, but where it was built, what the inspiration was and why would suffice for 1 point:

It looks as if it might be based on a 1955 Chevrolet, if the wheels and windscreen shape are anything to go by.

It has the body-stretched-over-the-chassis look of a Porsche 356, maybe a Speedster. Was that the inspiration for the builder?

'Fraid not..

SinisterCustoms...friends dad...built back in the late 50's early 60's. Drove back & forth to work at Boeing for many years. Sold in 1965. The car was never finished& has not been seen..since sold.

You have the car..
Now, what was said to be its inspiration, leading the builder to make it?

He wanted a Corvette, but could not afford a Corvette..so he built his own car.
