You've found my source, which does in fact say that, although on a site where the car was for sale it was said to be built in 1956/7 with no mention of Conrero; I wonder which is right?!

However, since that's the answer I was looking for I'll lock it for you just to tell me what the donor car was then we can move this one solved...

Yes, so we've probably gone as far as we can with the information available.
It was said to have been built by Conrero in 1965 on the base of a 1956/7 Alfa Romeo 1900 Berlina.  It's a good story so that's the one I'll perpetuate!  On another (perhaps more believable) site however it simply says it's Barchetta built in 1956/7 on the basis of a 1900 Berlina with no mention of Conrero..
