AFAIK the name of the car is Aston Martin EG; it is just based on Vanquish and it is Shooting Brake, but it's not the name...

AFAIK the name of the car is Aston Martin EG, not "Vanquish Shooting Brake"...

EG is included in its name; I didn't know what it meant though?

That's what I get for saving up interesting cars to post as puzzles at a later date.  Someone else dives in and posts it first!

Just for interest, what's the difference between a 'shooting brake', and a 'station wagon' or an 'estate car' '?  Is it:

Shooting brake - For taking guests and guns to the 'shoot' and bringing back guests, guns and miscellaneous dead deer, rabbits, pigeons, peasants etc
Station wagon - For taking said guests, their ladies, and baggage to and from the railway station.
Estate car -  For the rest of the year taking estate workers and their equipment to the far corners of the estate.

In all seriousness is there, or rather - was there, a difference?

A shooting brake was the original term for a car with that van-like rear, usually wooden framed with panels, for the gentleman to get his tackle to the shooting party.

An estate car is simply the modern term which generally now means the factory-produced car with an extended rear instead of a luggage boot (I suppose the term did originally come from something used on the estate, but now that can mean the council estate where the owner lives!)

A station wagon is the American term for both the above!

A station wagon is the American term for both the above!

The US station wagon (or "station hack") was originally a taxi to transport people/luggage to and from railroad stations to hotels, home, houses of ill repute, etc.  They were originally all "woodies" until the 1950s when the marketing strategy changed to providing transportation for large families to points hither and yon.  Then came the SUV and that downsized to the "crossover" (whatever that is.)

A bit of an exception is the Chevy/GMC Suburban which has always been (since 1935, anyway) a "station wagon" on a truck platform: half-ton or 3/4 ton, 2 wheel-drive or 2wd.  I kinda like 'em.  Right now I have a half-ton 4wd Burb.  My only "wish" is that I could fit my Camaro into the back of the Burb.  Kinda like a Fiat Jolly on a yacht.  But then I wouldn't have any room for my air mattress.  :)
