I thought they were only made during 1966-67?, or at least sold in Australia during this time. The one shown at the top is or was a car that was in Melbourne from new, It's a 1967 model. I used to run a wanted ad in the daliy paper (for a short while), looking for a Silva, this would have been during 2000-2001. The original owner of this car got in contact with me, and wanted to sell, but I thought the car was to good for me as I was looking for a restoration project. At the time, it was a daily driver and still in it's original paint. The next time I saw it was in 2006 when it was offered at the local Shannons auctions. This car, although it had some nasty rust, would have been one of the most original of the Silvias left in Australia. The only other Silvia I saw in Melbourne was a very badly dented up example, but still registered. One owner told me that while they look magnificent, they were extremely underpowered, and quite slow. Apparently they share the same engine as the Nissan forklifts of the time.
Australia had 49 imported, and some of those have since left the country. They were all painted the same colour (Inca Gold? I think). The body panels were hand formed, and made to suit each car as it was built, so panels off one car might not fit onto another car. Outside of Japan, Australia had the most imports, I think one went to New Guinea? and another one or two to either Singapore or Hong Kong. And I remember seeing a photo of one in the USA, taken in the 60's, but I think only a couple would have gone there at the most.
