Another "I can't believe it wasn't posted before".

For one point, please respond and identify this car.

1947-ish Healey-based Duncan Drone?
It's as much fun to scare as to be scared

The car was also known as the 2.4 Litre Healey-Duncan Competition 2-Seater.

There's one For Sale now; some pictures below of it and another.
They say the idea was to fit this basic body so they could sell the car for under £1000, then the purchaser would have a coachbuilder design and fit a body to suit him.  I wonder how many did?!

Possibly more than you think!
Around the time we are dealing with, Purchase tax on passenger cars was levied at 33.33% of the basic price. If that price were £1000 or over Purchase tax was doubled to 66.67% - however if there were Purchase Tax on the coachbuilder's subsequent work and I'm not sure that would have been, it would have been at 33.33%.
Somewhere I've seen that the Elliott bodied Healey cost £2725 inc. PT, so the basic price would have been circa £1650
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes, it did actually say that the reason for keeping it under £1000 was to avoid the double rate of purchase tax; I should have added that!
