What's this, where was it built and what powers it - for 1 point?

Google Search by Image continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Search by Image as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

Have fun!

looks like one of the 80s and 90s Supersaloons usually built on a sprtscar chassis.  Some were built on Chevron or Lola underpinnings and clad with look-alike GRP bodies.

To make it easier for someone else to solve, I seem to recall that this 850 Coupe is Alfa-engined, and raced in Australia.  Out of the country in a hotel at present so sadly won't have time to find the other details you need I guess before another puzzler pounces :(

I'm afraid your memory is letting you down Djetset.
It didn't race in Australia and it's not Alfa-engined!

Ah, it must be the jet lag!  If not Australian, then it is South African (?).

Ok.  The captions of those photos are somewhat confusing...to me, at least.  But I think I can give a better explanation now.  The SERIES is called "Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans."  The car is (according to the caption under the attached photo) is a turbocharged Fiat 850 driven by Rachel Beck.

You're obviously right about the race series, and we've already established it's a Fiat 850 Coupe body.
But it's not Fiat- or Alfa-powered.
I still need to know what powers it for that point!

The only thing I've been able to come up with is mention of a turbo Nissan 2 liter.

No, it doesn't have a Nissan engine.
But you are getting warmer...

The other possibility would be Toyota.

Since Mazda also makes a 2-liter motor, let's try that.
